CIVIL ENGINEERING AND SURFACING UPDATE
Current Projects
Our Civil Engineering and Surfacing (CE&S) division have recently
successfully tendered for active travel works in both Aberdeen City and
Aberdeenshire. The upgrade and provision of cycleways at Craigshaw
drive in Aberdeen City and Muirend Road in Portlethen commenced
in October. The division are also working on the B9090 at Howford
Bridge just north of Nairn for the Highland Council. The works
involve stabilising the steep bank down to the river with placement of
1800x600x600mm Lego blocks produced by our own Precast Division.
Other works on the project involve kerbing drainage and a complete
overlay of the road.

Leiths Improve Parking at Raigmore Hospital
The CE&S division are currently completing the upgrade of Raigmore
Car Park in Inverness.
The works are ahead of schedule resulting in new sections of car park
being returned to the NHS, allowing patients and staff to park in the
extremely busy location.
The contract involves new floodlighting, excavation, kerbing, drainage,
surfacing and lining works. These works have followed on from the initial
order to upgrade a new fuel tank and high voltage cable supply carried
out earlier this year.
New Plant for the Division
The division continue to invest in new state of art equipment from
Pavers, Rollers, and a new Bond Coat Tanker.

SILVER LINING…
Money raised from fines from the controversial new Bus Gate Zones
in Aberdeen City Centre has been channelled back into the community
through investment in footpath upgrading projects around Aberdeen.
To date Leiths CE&S division have carried out six projects around the
Hazelhead area, including the local Crematorium, making remote
woodland footpaths more accessible to all.

NORTHFIELD YOUTH HUB DEVELOPMENT WORKS
FOR LAWRIE DEMOLITION
Northfield Youth Hub approached Lawrie Demolition and various
other local companies to assist them in their project of relocating
a former nursery building from Woodside School to an area close
by Getactive@ Northfield Sports Centre. Northfield Youth Hub is a
charitable organisation who are actively trying to find access to areas
for children and young adults to meet safely and better themselves
in the community.
Lawrie’s role was to demolish the former groundsman’s storage
facility to allow for the setting out of new foundations to receive the
new modular building. The building was mechanically demolished
and the materials removed from site for recycle.
