DUST EXTRACTION UNITS FOR THE LABORATORIES
Continued Investment in Safety
Testing of aggregates in the Laboratories unavoidably causes dust.
The challenge is to remove any airborne dust while not affecting
the airflow in the Laboratory to the point where the highly sensitive
electronic balances could be affected.
After a lengthy review and several trials of various methods, a
particulate and dust extraction system by DustPRO was selected for
installation in the Laboratories. The relatively small and transportable
high vacuum units are designed for continuous running for long
periods of time using very high efficiency HEPA filters.
Once the locations for installation were selected, Leiths
Fabrication Shop was able to manufacture bespoke hoods to meet
each of the exacting requirements.

UKAS is the national accreditation body for the United Kingdom and is globally
recognised for assessing organisations such as ours that provide testing and
inspection services.
Having UKAS accreditation demonstrates the
competence, independence, proven
impartiality, and performance capabilities of
the Leiths laboratories.
Having UKAS accreditation provides our
customers with confidence and trust in the
accuracy and reliability of the tests conducted
by Leiths in ensuring that our products and
services meet the required standards and are
of a high quality.
Maintaining UKAS accreditation since 1998
is something that our Group should be very
proud of and promote to all our industry
partners.
3 Positive Points
The 3 Positive Points was an idea the Precast division came
up with to encourage good practices; recognise safety ideas and
personal achievements; and any business-related successes.
The aim is to create a positive workplace and to celebrate
individuals’ efforts.
3 Positive Points include long time Employee Awards,
Engagements, Birthday celebrations, Safety Ideas,
New Customers and Contracts, Customer Satisfaction feedback,
new Products, Training Certificates and Successful Annual
Inspections.
