singing his physical and
spiritual landscape into
existence in a constant
state of arrival, creation,
acknowledgment and
respect. But he could hardly
sing fast enough. These
songs were created for and
at walking pace and relate
to specific topographical
features. Motorised speed
compressed the depth of
experience and did not have
adequate breathing space.
What a model of belonging!
As I become increasingly
enmeshed in the nature
writing family, I can identify
The Spell of The Sensuous
as a pivotal work for my
thinking. It is a book that is
best read in short feasts –
put down intermittently to
digest the words and let them
work their alchemy on your
perception.
