The two main factors preventing
organisations from hiring are
compensation expectations – cited
by 72% of our respondents – and
applicants having insufficient
technical or regulatory knowledge
(70%).
While candidate location was a
distant third, it was mentioned by
nearly four out of ten employers
(38%) as a problem – a notable
rise from 24% in 2021.
Brexit is likely a contributing factor,
with 44% of organisations saying
it has reduced the number of
suitably qualified and experienced
candidates available to them.
Of these, 21% said the impact
has been significant.
As a result, our consultants are
reporting that more employers are
now willing to consider sponsoring
overseas candidates for technical
roles that they are struggling to fill.
However, the maturity of the UK’s
cyber security market means that
organisations in both Britain and
mainland Europe still favour UK
candidates.
