Permanent recruitment trends
The past 12 months have been extremely
buoyant for cyber security and data
privacy recruitment. Demand for skilled
professionals continued to rise in 2022,
with hiring levels surpassing what was
already a remarkably busy period the
previous year.
As the uncertainty of Covid-19 and Brexit
faded in 2021, employers received a
much-needed confidence boost, leading
many to ramp up their recruitment. A
significant amount of pent-up demand
was unleashed, some of which spilled
over into 2022.
“It was a very busy year across almost all
of the markets that we cover,” says Sophie
Spencer, Head of Cyber Security and Data
Privacy Recruitment at Barclay Simpson.
“More technically focused areas – such
as security architecture, engineering
and operations – were especially active.
But we also saw strong demand across
identity and access management and
GRC roles.”
Good candidates remain difficult to find
across the board, with nearly all (96%)
employers of cyber security and data
privacy professionals telling us that it is
challenging to source the right people in
today’s market.
