Key factors affecting cyber security
and data privacy recruitment
Over the next 12 months, we expect various political,
economic and social factors to have an impact on
cyber security and data privacy hiring trends.
1. New regulations
A number of recent and upcoming regulatory changes
are driving demand in key areas of cyber security.
In particular, organisations are heavily focused on
operational resilience, with the EU recently approving
the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the
UK introducing the Telecommunications (Security)
Act (TSA).
While both Acts were adopted late last year,
organisations have some time before they must
be compliant with the new frameworks. DORA, which
applies to financial institutions, comes into force in
2025, and the TSA has deadlines of either 2024 or
2028, depending on how resource intensive it will be
for telecoms providers to comply.
Nevertheless, organisations realise they must
prepare for these changes earlier rather than
later, with many now embarking on large-scale
transformation projects and hiring drives as a result.
2. Awareness of risks
With operational resilience taking centre stage,
businesses are also paying more attention to
their supply-chain vulnerabilities. As such, we are
experiencing a notable increase in interest for
candidates who have third-party risk capabilities,
including a number of roles becoming available
at more senior levels.
