APEX ANS FOUR WEEK REVIEW – UP
The whole month of August saw volumes of more than 100k per week, with an average of 103k jobs per
week. This is 12.5% higher than during the same period in 2019. This summer has been exceptionally
busy for the industry. Interestingly, the previous 4 week period was actually even busier (4% more jobs)
with a spike in week 29. The latest 4 weeks have been relatively steady in job volumes, so somewhat
more predictable.
With the country continuing to prefer holidaying on the British isles, we continue to see higher than expected out
of hours jobs and RTCs, with lower London based jobs (people getting out of the city) and home starts. Home
starts accounted for 8.2% of total jobs, compared with over 22% during the height of the 3rd lockdown period.
Similarly, out of hours jobs have increased to 27% of total jobs, compared to 12% at the beginning of January.
Let’s see what September has to offer. Hopefully, we will see a return to somewhat more normal and predictable
volume levels.
* For this review we will always compare the figures for the latest four week period compared to the prior four
week period to achieve the best like for like comparison.
