A high-end respirator device with remote control
mechanism, collaboratively designed by a team of
Mathematicians, Computer Scientists, Electro-mechanics, Engineering, IT and Telecommunication
students.
Four-teachers and researchers in Senegal mobilised their expertise, departments and students
and came up with an artificial respirator to contain
COVID-19. The four luminaries leading the project
are Doctors Ibrahima Gueye, Ousmane Seydi and
Ahmed Mouhamadou from Polytechnic School
of Thiès (EPT) a public institution together with
Mamadou Lamine Diagne from the University of
Thies. The foursome have developed an affordable
and easy to mount artificial respirator to assist
COVID-19 patients in critical care.

Muryar Matassa - which means “Voice of Youth” in Hausa, is a
web and app platform, created by a group of young Nigeriens
aged between 22-25, passionate about ICTs and how they can
use their skills to mitigate the ravages of COVID-19 in their
communities. They use the digital platform as civic, health and
education tool for information and idea sharing about COVID-19.

This the fast and frugal decontaminator is a creation of Serge Armel
Njidjou - an engineer and a management specialist with a passion
for innovation and entrepreneurship. The device, which at 10 seconds
and 15 francs per user is one of the fastest and the cheapest on the
market. The gate is now use in many places in the country, including entrances to some shopping malls, health centers and even the
national assembly.
