Homes
not
hospitals
Active Prospects fully support the Homes not Hospitals
campaign launched in 2015 by National Health Service,
association of directors of adult social care and local
government association which recognised that people
with complex care needs were getting stuck in hospital
as there were not enough support providers or capable
environments to meet their needs.
Since then, Active Prospects has created 31 homes in
Surrey and West Sussex specially to address this need.
We have been successful in applying for and delivering
£12 million in NHS capital grants, using social
investment of £4 million from social and sustainable
capital, mainstream mortgages through Barclays, and
some of our own investment.
We always aim to provide homes that are well designed
and robust, utilise assistive technology to provide
privacy and independence, are appropriately spacious
but also are homely. We believe that your home is your
sanctuary, a safe place to rest and rejuvenate, and to be
inspired to go out into the world.

In 2022-2023 Active Prospects launched six new
homes for people with complex needs in Horley,
Surrey funded by NHS Capital. The one bed flats
all have separate kitchens, lounge, bedroom and
wet room.
Three of the flats have their own garden space,
the other three share a large garden. In addition
to the flats is a large communal lounge/kitchen
and conservatory. Three of the flats utilise Just
Roaming to enable people to have independence
with the security of knowing that staff will be
alerted if they require immediate support.
There are 15 new homes planned
in 2023-24. We are very proud
to share that we have a 100%
placement success rate in 20222023, this means that there were
no placement breakdowns and
no readmissions to hospital.
We are also very pleased to celebrate with two
people who have remained out of hospital for
three years following over a decade in hospital.
