He loves the city of Jerusalem
more than any other city in Israel.*
O city of God,
what glorious things are said of you!
Interlude
I will count Egypt* and Babylon among those who
know me—
also Philistia and Tyre, and even distant Ethiopia.*
They have all become citizens of Jerusalem!
Regarding Jerusalem* it will be said,
“Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.”
And the Most High will personally bless this city.
When the LORD registers the nations, he will say,
“ They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.”
Interlude
The people will play flutes* and sing,
“ The source of my life springs from Jerusalem!”

because he may have been the one who collected them.

Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the LORD,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the LORD watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

Why are the nations so angry?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
