HOW TO GET ALONG
WITH GUYS
No one has to tell you that girls and guys are different.
even though guys are different, you can get along with
them —it just takes some effort. Here are some tips:
Be friendly.
To be a friend, you have to be friendly. You can start
by asking questions to get guys talking: “What do you do for fun?”
“Do you play a sport?” “What movies do you like?”
Be yourself.
Whoever you want to befriend wants to see the real
you. It will be easier to show the real you if you accept yourself for
who you are. You should never be ashamed of who you are.
It’s okay to just be friends.
There is no need to rush into a
deeper relationship than you are ready to have with a guy. It is also
wise not to rush a guy into having a deeper relationship with you
than he wants.
Separate crowd actions from heart actions.
Many
people act differently in a crowd than they do one-on-one. A guy
might do anything for a laugh when he’s with a group of his friends,
but that doesn’t mean he can’t be serious.
Be quicker to praise and slower to label or judge.
Blanket statements like “Boys are so immature!” never make anyone
feel good. Be an encourager instead of a discourager.
Expect misunderstandings to occur.
With differences
come misunderstandings. Instead of letting anger push you to give
up on a guy friend, keep your cool and talk things over with him.
Getting the advice of another guy you know (like your dad or your
brother) can help give you perspective.
