Having been in print for more
than 10 years before starting my
business and staring at printed
products, it’s hard not to draw
some elements from what I see.
Social media is another one but
getting out and about in nature
would be a big one.
Tell us about Veasna Chea.
Veasna Chea… basically it’s my
name. When I started, I was
trying
to
come
up
with
something fun, quirky or a play
on words but nothing seemed to
click. Starting out about 8 years
ago I was mainly designing for
friends and family so I didn’t
feel the need to come up with a
name.
Before I knew it, my work was
out there and I was booking out
and it evolved into itself really
and the name stuck for the
business. Also, I had always
wanted to carry on dads name as
a tribute to him and carry on the
Chea name.
As
a
wedding
stationery
designer, you often work with a
couple in the early stages and
then again in the later stages
when curating menus, place
cards and signage. What is most
important for you as a designer
to ensure there is cohesiveness
throughout the overall style of
the wedding experience for
guests?
As
a
wedding
stationery
designer,
I
prioritise
understanding a couple's vision
upfront, discussing their desired
vibe, preferences, and budget
flexibility. Utilising inspirational
images is crucial to bridge any
terminology gaps.
Communication and trust are
key; when couples believe in my
ability to craft in line with their
vision, the stationery naturally
aligns
with
the
wedding's
aesthetics. Ensuring cohesion
across
Save-the-Dates,
invitations, menus, and signage
hinges on this understanding,
creating
a
seamless
and
enchanting experience for the
guests.
