Our impact
Case study
Tutor Trust and Peel Park Primary School, Bradford
Peel Park Primary School joined the Tutor Trust school community
for the 昀椀rst time this year.
The school serves a diverse area
and is one of only eight Champion
Heritage Schools, an achievement
from Historic England which recognises
schools in the country that are committed
to embedding local heritage into
the curriculum.
In 2023/24 we supported:
• 129 pupils from Years 1-6 in reading,
maths and phonics.
Each group made impressive progress
between their baseline and endpoint
assessments:
• Year 1 made an average improvement
of 29 percentage points (equivalent
to 15 marks) in their phonics
screening check
• Year 4 made an average improvement
of 31 percentage points in their reading
assessments
• Year 4 made an average improvement
of 39 percentage points in their
multiplication tables check
• Year 6 made an average of 4.3 scaled
score points progress in their SATs,
with 40% of pupils reaching age-related
expectations at the end of tuition.
Tutor Jo said she felt supported by the
whole sta昀昀 team.
I’ve been given so many
opportunities for growth with
experience tutoring across six Year
groups, as well as invitations to be
a part of wider school activities –
my personal favourite being roped
into being a judge for the talent
show! Thank you, Peel Park!

Headteacher Andrea Grist is enthusiastic
about the impact of tuition:
We’ve chosen children speci昀椀cally
“
(to receive tutoring) and, for them,
having that extra hour a week in
a very small group, with somebody
regularly looking at the gaps in
their learning has been a real
bene昀椀t for them.
The vast majority of children
that receive tuition at Peel Park
are eligible for free school meals.
They just wouldn’t be able to afford
private tuition, so this is a real
bene昀椀t that they have access to.
”
Their enthusiasm for tuition shone
through too, with average attendance
across all sessions at 85%. The pupils
embraced the new skills the sessions
gave them.
“
My favourite is discussion time
because it helps me learn new
words and information that I can
use when I’m doing my work.
