Who we worked with
Outcomes
Our aim is to support young people in the
North who, without our support, would
not be able to a昀昀ord tutoring. To help
ensure we are working with the young
people that need it most we have de昀椀ned
our target population. This includes
pupils who fall within any or all of the
following criteria:
• A young person eligible for Pupil
Premium funding
• A ‘cared for’ young person
• A young person in Alternative
Provision (AP)
• A young person attending a school
serving a high percentage of pupils
eligible for Pupil Premium funding
• A young person receiving Tutoring
Plus tuition (including those who
are persistently / severely absent
from school).
Our pupils often face signi昀椀cant
systemic barriers which result in them
having the furthest to go in terms of
educational attainment. 51% of our Year
6 pupils this year came to us signi昀椀cantly
below the expected standard (starting
score between 80-94) and 35% of our
Year 11 pupils were at Grade 2 or below.
But with our tuition, our pupils made
huge progress:
• Overall, our primary pupils made
7.07 scaled score points progress.
This equates to approximately 30
additional raw marks out of 110 across
the three maths papers and a gain of
approximately 10 additional raw marks
out of 50 on the single reading paper.
• Overall, secondary pupils on our
mainstream programmes made average
progress of 0.86 grades which is very
close to one whole grade of progress.
92%
Of the 6,016 young people
served this year, 92%
were within our target
population.
Our impact isn’t just evidenced through
our exam results, our stakeholders tell
us too:
• 79% of our pupils agreed or strongly
agreed that our tutoring helped them
make progress
• 91% of our schools said they would
recommend us to another school
or college
• 98% of tutors rated their experience
of tutoring as good or excellent.
