Wine Regions of the UNITED STATES (continued)
State of Tennessee: Wineries are sprinkled all across the state. From small, mom & pop to large wineries and vineyards
that specialize in some of the best grapes the state has to offer. Whether it9s the vineyards in East Tennessee, the
wineries near the capital of Nashville, or those vineyards that jive to the Memphis blues, there are wineries that meet
even the most discerning tastes!
Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the Texas Hill Country wine region, which spans 9 million acres,
making it the second-largest wine region in the nation. The dry, sunny Texas Hill Country climate is well suited for growing grapes like
Tempranillo, Syrah, Albarino, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. The Texas Hill Country is generally used to refer to all land in the
winegrowing region north of San Antonio and west of Austin.
State of Vermont: There9s wine in Vermont that9s starting to grab the attention of sommeliers and other wine enthusiasts. While the
scene is a far cry from Napa Valley and the Finger Lakes of the world, that9s part of the draw. In Vermont, you get the feeling you9re
setting foot in unexplored wine country4a region still very much on the up and up.
The most famous wine region within Virginia is located around the
historic town of Charlottesville, perhaps best known as the home of Thomas Jefferson9s
Monticello. The state is known for its nearly 200-day growing season, as well as the
presence of premier wineries such as Barboursville Vineyards and Linden Vineyards.
Winegrowing has been part of Virginia9s tradition since the Colonial era.
Home to a diverse group of growing regions. This diversity is one of
the reasons such a large number of varieties succeed in Washington. While some of these
regions might have relatively small amounts of acreage planted compared to others, that
acreage can sometimes make some of the state9s best wines.
