Welcoming a New Director to the KRC
DR. KEVIN BURNS
SENIOR SCIENTIST
DIRECTOR, KRC
After more than 23 years, Dr. Kevin Burns has decided to step away from
his role as Director of the Kidney Research Centre. Dr. Burns played a
pivotal role in developing The Ottawa Hospital’s kidney research program,
founding the Kidney Research Centre in 2000, Canada’s first research
facility exclusively dedicated to kidney disease. As Director
for over 20 years, Dr. Burns has overseen substantial advancement in
fundamental and clinical kidney research. Dr. Burns isn't going far — he
will continue his research as Senior Scientist at the KRC.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Dylan Burger will assume the
Director position in January 2024.
Dr. Burger is an internationally recognized expert in extracellular vesicle
(EV biology and the role of EVs as biomarkers or mediators of kidney
disease. A highly productive investigator, Dr. Burger collaborates
extensively with other researchers at KRC and around the globe.
