Health & Therapy
Health
The health and well- being of our staff and learners are paramount. We have two College Nurses
(Health & Wellbeing Nurse and Occupational Heath Nurse), one who focusses on staff needs and
the other who concentrates on the needs of learners. They both attend the Q of L Leadership Group
meetings and are part of the Health and Safety Group.
Our Health and wellbeing Nurse focuses on learners’ health and well- being, ensuring every learner is
holistically assessed. Support to staff is provided around learners’ medication and policies and
procedures have been reviewed by the health team, and staff training around medicinemanagement and other areas of care are in place. As of recently, a nut policy and menopause policy
has been devised for the whole foundation. Immunisations for learners continue to be promoted and
offered at college along with the flu vaccines for both staff and learners. Our nurses work closely
with families, providing support, guidance, and signposting, and liaise closely with other health
professionals. They also work closely with the NHS hearing services to promote and get a new
service within college, this pilot has now been completed and we are awaiting the outcome in terms
of equipment.
Quality of Life is a large part of our health promotion work, encouraging a healthy diet and life- style,
increased physical activity, better sleep patterns, improving mental wellbeing and a focus towards
work life brilliance. Oral hygiene has been delivered in small learning groups, and this has been
received well by both staff and learners.
