The FJ and
the footbridge
It’s a mystery more than half a century in
the making. A piece of Adelaide folklore.
Just who dangled the FJ Holden from the
Uni footbridge?
Now, for the first time, Lumen has solved
the puzzle, and we reunite the perpetrators
at the “scene of the crime” to relive the
moment and share the details.
The image on this page has been created by
Lumen photographic editor Isaac Freeman
to commemorate that gathering.

About our covers
Our front cover image of Bonython Hall
“generating creativity” from inside a light bulb was
sparked both by the name of our magazine, meaning
light, and the “light bulb moment” of inspiration.
Conceived by the Lumen editorial team, it was
created by Tristan Castle, a technical artist within
the Realities Extended business unit, using a new
software tool developed by the Realities Extended
team (Ethan Schoemaker, Matthew Hall and Steven
Cook). This tool came about from a collaboration
with industry seeking new ways for artists to build
interactive content on large-scale LED displays.
Realities Extended is an internal University of
Adelaide business unit working at the forefront
of immersive technologies.

The Journey artwork by Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri,
Narungga, and Wirangu artist Gabriel Stengle.
The digital painting was commissioned to become
an integral part of a new brand identity for Wirltu
Yarlu, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander unit
of the University of Adelaide. Gabriel is a University
alum, and her work symbolises a celebration of the
connection between Wirltu Yarlu, the University, the
students, and the journey of education.
