Following thatinternship, I was selected as part of News Corp Australia’s nationalcadet program and have since accepted a full-time position at TheAdvertiser, covering general news with a focus on Indigenous affairsand social issues.The Future Teachers Fund will provide grants for studentteachers in their final year placement, to assist with travel costs,accommodation, and financial hardship and allow our futureteachers to focus on getting the most out of their placement.“My scholarship not only gave me financial comfort but enabledme to seize opportunities previously out of reach, without fear.”Recipient of a Teach in Country Scholarship, Jazz Rees spent fiveweeks teaching English and history at high school in Port Augusta.While it was challenging to be away from loved ones in Adelaide,acclimatise to life and work in an unfamiliar place, and spend longdays being actively involved in this rural community, the aspiringteacher says, “the rewards of my rural placement greatlyoutweighed the challenges I faced”.“It also provided me with the opportunity to experience life inrural South Australia for an extended period, solidifying my desireto begin my teaching career in the country.
