disciplines embark on a
vast array of pathways
across the health sector.

n this issue we take a look at the
achievements of ûve Medicine and
Health Sciences graduates who have
found success in distinctly different ûelds.
Lucky Giirre has combined her studies
in Health Sciences with a Law degree to
pursue work in reducing social isolation
faced by Muslim and refugee communities
in South Australia.
Nola Pearce took her experience as a
critical care nurse to the world of trauma
simulation training where she provides
realistic injury make-up for emergency and
combat scenarios.
Elizabeth Harford-Wright turned a
Health Sciences degree into PhD research
with ground-breaking results—a discovery
that will improve the quality of life for
brain tumour patients.
Tom Smith, an Oxford-based aerospace
medical specialist, has undertaken
research in the world9s highest town to
look at the impact of low oxygen levels on
the heart and lungs.
And Kate Gunn has developed a cancer
support website to help people in rural
areas affected by the disease. She works
closely with cancer patients and their
families in her role as a psychologist.
This varied group of outstanding alumni
demonstrates a commitment to new
knowledge that is having a direct impact
on the lives of many.
