About our covers
The cover image of the Mitchell Building
(our University’s first building) was taken
about 50 years ago in preparation for our
Centenary. The photo mosaic overlaying
it is comprised of previous Lumen covers
spanning the same timeframe. Lumen
turned 50 in 2022.
Both of our inside covers carry a
panoramic drone photograph of the
University’s city campus, created by
our Infrastructure Branch. This recent
LUMEN
snapshot for the 150th emulates a similar
black and white aerial photograph taken
for the University’s Centenary.
Our rear cover, pointing to the next issue,
is a famous image of an imaginative prank
pulled off by engineering students in the
1970s – we are hoping to talk to the
“perpetrators” in our next issue.
