DEXA (Dual-Energy XRAY
Absorptiometry) Non-invasive
scan to assess bone density.
If less than or equal to -2.5
(osteoporosis)
If -1.0 to -2.4 (osteopenia)
TREATMENT
Calcium and Fosamax (Alendronate)
** Bisphosphonates must be taken on a
empty stomach, with a full glass of water,
and no lying down for 30 minutes.
** This is recommended due to the risk of
esophageal complications
(esophagitis or perforation.)
