Unlocking PartnershipsForging new partnerships and deepening existing ones were crucial in FY2024, as partnersprovide essential knowledge, expertise, resources, and connections that enable our Networkto expand its reach and address food insecurity and climate change more effectively.In 2023, GFN hosted the Global Food Security Summit in New Delhi, India, bringing togethergovernment officials, business leaders, academics, and food experts to discuss global andIndian food security challenges during India’s G20 presidency.GFN and food banks in Argentina, Chile, Columbia, and Israel received $500,000 eachthrough Citi Foundation’s Global Innovation Challenge, a $25 million initiative to improve foodsecurity and strengthen the financial health of low-income communities.At COP29 in Dubai, GFN hosted “Food Loss and Waste Day” at the Food Systems Pavilion,a series of sessions focused on food system transformation, highlighting the connectionbetween food loss and waste and climate action. GFN also participated in the launch ofReducing Food Loss & Waste: A Roadmap for Philanthropy and supported the Non-StateActors Call to Action for Transforming Food Systems for People, Nature, and Climate,which was signed by over 200 entities.In May 2024, GFN and PIMCO won a Halo Gold Award at the Engage For Good Conferencefor the “Powering Food Banks for Zero Hunger” initiative, a five-year, $10 million partnershipsupporting food banks around the world.15
