2024-2025 Course Flipbook v2 - Flipbook - Page 17
In 7th grade, students answer the question, “Who is my community?” as they learn
about the dynamics of ecosystems and the systems that help living organisms
function. For example, students investigate the interdependence of organisms in
habitats and ecosystems by creating and observing their own spider terrarium.
Later, by studying genetics and evolution, they discover the variety of life on Earth
and the principles that drive variation. Students also analyze the complexity of cell
structure and body systems through microscope use and dissections to explain
how individual living organisms function and how they have evolved over time. As
students ask, “How do ecosystems and living organisms function?”, they continue
to develop the scienti昀椀c skills of designing experiments, interpreting data, and using
evidence to support an argument through lab reports and oral and multimedia
presentations. To conclude the year, students will design and conduct their own
experiment involving living organisms.
