SCIENCESCIENCE 6: ENERGY AND CYCLESIn Science 6, students explore the question, “What is the role of cycles in scienti昀椀cphenomena?” This course delves into the interconnected and cyclic nature ofmatter such as nutrient and rock cycles, emphasizing hands-on learning and thescienti昀椀c method. Students develop foundational skills in gardening, plant biology, soil science, cycles of matter through composting, and nutrition. They design andconduct their own experiments while growing their own produce in on-campusgarden plots. Finally, they investigate how community urban gardens can impactthe environment, health, and environmental justice. As they engage in hands-ongardening projects and re昀氀ective practices, students learn to think and work likescientists while making a positive impact on their community.
