GCSE AND A-LEVEL
EDUCATION PACKS AVAILABLE
As part of the work the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre creates to support
teachers and students, education packs for a selection of Main House shows
are produced each year. Aimed at GCSE and A-level students of Drama,
Theatre Studies and English, our education packs are produced for select
shows produced by the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. Within the pack you will
find information and multiple assets to support teacher planning with direct
links to the curriculum.
This year, education packs were created for the productions of Minority Report,
FANGIRLS, Our Country’s Good and A Raisin in the Sun, all of which are
completely FREE and accessible on our website. These exclusive resources
often include industry insights from world renowned theatre makers and
practitioners, including this interview with Aundrea Fudge - Voice and Dialect
Coach for A Raisin the Sun.
TAKE A SNEAK PEEK INSIDE
Q&A with Voice & Dialect Coach Aundrea Fudge
What is your role as a Voice and Dialect coach?
My main job is to ensure that performers are
heard and understood by the audience in a
vocal capacity. Sometimes this involves
coaching an accent, sometimes it means
doing vocal exercises with them, but most of
the time, it’s about making sure performers
feel confident and secure in their own voices
so they can deliver their best performance.
Why is it important that theatres work with Voice and Dialect
coaches on productions?
Accents are a crucial aspect of human interaction,
influencing how we connect with one another. A poorly
executed accent can disrupt the audience's immersion in a
play, while a well-done accent can elevate the entire
performance. Even if a performer is skilled in an accent, they
also need to be able to perform effectively with it and sustain
that vocal performance for the entire duration required.
