Introduction
In 1996, a book titled THE CIGARETTE PAPERS rocked the world. It exposed
what many people knew, what many people talked about for years...that tobacco smoking is deadly, and how the tobacco industry manipulated politicians,
the media, and the medical community to spread their lies.
My book, THE ETHANOL PAPERS, is meant to also rock the world and counter
the continuous lies and disinformation spread by the oil industry. This is a
rough-and-tumble, no-holds-barred examination of the ethanol vs. gasoline issue. Written in plain jargon, simple enough that even brain-washed scientists,
academics, and politicians can understand. But this is no “Biofuels for Dummies,” it’s the most in-depth, complete explanation of the issue and it’s targeted
at smart people who really want to know the truth.
This book is a compilation of most of the papers I've written about ethanol and
alternative fuels since 2008, along with some new commentary, a chronological
reshuffling to improve the flow of information, and some updates since its original published version in 2018.
This book is divided into three sections:
THE BIG PICTURE - Historical based essays, compositions, and monographs that set forth how we arrived where we are.
MYTHS & LEGENDS - Examines and explains the un-science that has
been used to discredit ethanol and other alternative energy solutions for
a century and more.
MUGS, PUGS, THUGS, NITWITS, HALFWITS, DIMWITS, SNIPERS,
VIPERS, CON MEN AND OIL MEN - No further explanation is needed.
I first learned about the potential of alternative engine fuels in the late 1970's
while doing some unrelated marketing research in the giant New York Public
Library on Fifth Avenue. I came across a book that described turning corn and
other farm crops into ethanol and methanol.
