His Majesty King Vajiravudh (King Rama VI) was a monarch
deeply interested in the arts, including drama, literature,
and fine arts. In addition to enjoying Khon and drama
performances, he authored many literary works. King
Rama VI initiated the establishment of the Fine Arts
Department to support and develop craftsmanship and
the creation of fine arts in Thailand. He also provided
royal patronage to establish the Pohchang Academy of
Arts, Thailand9s first official art education institution. King
Rama VI was not just a patron of the arts but an artist
himself. He created artwork, including illustrations for his
writings such as the story
