Vittorio Novi was one of the Italian artists who traveled to Siam to
work on art projects. Born in 1866, he hailed from the renowned
family of sculptors in Lanzo d9Intelvi, Italy. Novi arrived in Siam
in 1910 and stayed for five years. His primary mission was to
create sculptures to adorn the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall.
Novi9s work included statues, decorative elements for the tops
of buildings and columns, and intricate designs for door arches
and windows. One of his notable achievements was a statue
of King Rama VI, for which His Majesty sat as a model himself.
This increased Novi9s reputation and popularity, drawing interest
from the Thai royal court and foreigners residing in Thailand,
many of whom wanted him to create sculptures for them.
However, he remained dedicated to his primary mission at
the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall and could only fulfill some
requests. Novi also created several public sculptures. One of his
