Natee Utarit, the recipient of the Silpathorn Award for the year 2019, is an
acclaimed Thai contemporary artist recognized internationally. Born in 1956,
Natee completed his studies at the College of Fine Arts, Bangkok (1987), and
later graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts
(Printmaking Department), Silpakorn University in 1991. His early works encompassed
both abstract painting and printmaking art forms, gradually evolving into realistic
paintings that reflect the artist9s perspectives on social and political issues. These
works often interpret historical narratives, beliefs, and cultural phenomena.
Natee has exhibited both solo and group shows in renowned museums and
art galleries, both domestically and internationally, receiving high acclaim from
the global art community.
