Kamin Lertchaiprasert, the recipient of the Silpathorn Award in Visual Arts for the
year 2017, is one of the Thai contemporary artists dedicated to seeking a unique
language in artistic expression. He intertwines art with daily life, mindfulness,
and the ever-changing nature of the surrounding environment. Born in 1964 in
Lopburi province, Kamin completed his undergraduate studies in printmaking at
Silpakorn University (1987) before relocating to New York (1989-1992). He later
returned to Bangkok and Chiang Mai (1996). Together with Rirkrit Tiravanija,
