Vasan Sitthiket, the recipient of the Silpathorn Award in Visual Arts for the year
2007, was born in 1957 in Nakhon Sawan province. He has been a prominent
contemporary artist for over 40 years, creating art under political ideologies.
Vasan studied art at the College of Fine Arts from 1975 to 1981, coinciding
with significant political events in October 1976. He was deeply interested in
using art to promote campaigns, call for attention, and stimulate community
involvement. His works include paintings, prints, literature, music, and performing
arts. Furthermore, Vasan actively participated in various political movements
with diverse groups of local protesting campaigns.
