Somsak Chowtadapong, a national artist in the field of visual arts (painting) for
the year 2017, was born in 1949. He earned his bachelor9s degree in Fine Arts
(Painting) with second-class honors and a master9s degree from the Faculty
of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University. He later received
certificates from the Urbino Institute of Art, Italy, and Yokohama National University,
Japan. Somsak held positions such as Director of the College of Fine Arts,
Suphan Buri, Deputy Director of the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture,
Ministry of Culture, and retired as an inspector General at the Ministry of Culture.
Along his artistic journey, Somsak has been continuously interested in creating
artworks in the abstract genre, particularly in portraying various color harmonies
and textures through brushstrokes and compositions. The artwork
