the woman. Thawan presents the contrast between the
pure, delicate world of the beautiful woman and the wild,
savage nature of the beasts surrounding her. A fearsome
snake slithers from her fine hair, and her soft, delicate skin
contrasts sharply with the rough, grotesque skin of the
doomed toad. These contrasting images evoke emotional
