Chalood Nimsamer, a progressive artist who graduated in sculpture, worked
across various art forms such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media,
and installation art. Additionally, Chalood was an academic who authored an
influential textbook on art composition that remains significant today. Another
vital contribution to the art world was his role as an educator, where he helped
establish the printmaking and Thai art curricula at Silpakorn University, which
produced many artists working in these fields throughout the country.

From the late 1940s to the 1950s, modern art trends depicted Thai life. Notable
artists included Manit Poo-Aree, Chalerm Nakiraks, Prayat Pongdam, Inson
Wongsam, Damrong Wong-Uparaj, and Praphan Srisuta. Chalood Nimsamer
pioneered the revival of traditional Thai painting techniques in modern art, such
as applying gold leaf and using flat colours with contour lines to depict ordinary
people living simple lives. One of his most famous works in this style is the painting
