Daylan,
I closed my eyes for a moment and suddenly you are a man where a little boy
used to be. The love I have for you is immense and you are a blessing in my life.
Your determination, intelligence, kindness and consideration of others
have never wavered. Each and every one of your academic and extracurricular
accomplishments demonstrate excellent, committed leadership whether you
are serving at school, in Jack and Jill or the community. You have manifested
everything you have wanted to accomplish thus far and I am elated that I had a
front row seat to witness it all.
As you leave this part of the race behind, entering the next chapter in life
(college), keep climbing, keep breaking those chains and never forget who you are!
Know that God is with you and your village continues to cheer you on.
The race is now yours to run!

Daylan is a talented graduate of Blue Ridge
Academy Charter School with a passion for
social justice and protecting the mental health
of teens. His dedication to academic excellence
earned him membership in the National Honor
Society and exposure to STEM by being
selected for Boston Scienti昀椀c’s Bridge to the
Future Program. In addition, he is a volunteer
at the Children’s Hunger Fund, member of
NA ACP-Santa Clarita, Valencia Christian
Center and Jack and Jill of America where he
currently serves as the Far West Regional Teen
President. Daylan has also showcased his skills
in national commercials. Attending Morehouse
College in the fall to study Sociology and
Criminal Justice, he embodies Barack Obama’s
belief that meaningful change begins with us,
stating, “We are the change that we seek!”
