Angel City (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
I n February 1963, The Angel City (CA) Chapter was the first chapter chartered solely comprised
of transferee’s sponsored by The Links, Incorporated. This was the second chapter chartered in the
metropolitan Los Angeles area. In June 1963, the chapter installed 昀椀ve members who wished to blend
friendship and service to improve their community. Each member of the Angel City (CA) Chapter remains
committed to this vision and uses her talents toward creating varied and viable programs that deliver on
opportunities for our community.
The Links, Incorporated has established 昀椀ve facets which de昀椀ne the focus of Links projects: The Arts, Health
and Human Services, International Trends, National Trends and Services to Youth. The Angel City (CA)
Chapter has actively supported more than 55 local and global projects during its 60 years of service.
The cornerstone of The Angel City (CA) Chapter Projects became the Achiever Program which was
introduced to the community 43 years ago. Our vision was to strengthen the African American family
by targeting young men and making an impact on their journeys toward adult citizenship. Scholarships in
excess of $3.0 million have been awarded to 1454 young men in a 41-year period. Through motivational
workshops, we are producing a corps of young men who are dedicated to the improvement of our society.
For its efforts, The Angel City (CA) Chapter has been recognized by Los Angeles City Council, community
churches, and organizations. The Achiever Program has won National and Area Links Program Awards
and has been featured on local and national television programs. In 2011, the Angel City (CA) Chapter
was awarded the Legacy Award for Services to Youth/Educational Linkage for the Achiever Program at the
Western Area Conference of The Links, Incorporated. In 2004, the Achiever Program won the Links
Pinnacle Award, the National 昀椀rst place trophy for Services to Youth. In 2014, the Angel City (CA) Chapter
received the 昀椀rst place trophy for the National Services for Youth. In 2021, the Angel City (CA) Chapter
received the Best Practices Pearl Award for Sustainable and Transformational Programming. In addition,
the Angel City (CA) Chapter was recognized for being the 昀椀rst chapter in 2020 to successfully pivot our in
person Affair of Honor to an online event during the pandemic.
The Angel City (CA) Chapter is a hardworking and dynamic group of women who step up to the challenge
and deliver beyond expectation.
