Farmers to benefit from latest
initiatives in tackling rural crime

COME ALONG: HARPER Adams University’s Balmoral stand

stand. Harper Adams past and prospective students and
their parents, industry and other friends will be warmly
welcome to meet alumni, present students and Harper
Adams University staff on the stand on each day of the
show.
T this year’s Balmoral Show, the Rural
Crime Partnership (RCP), Business Crime
Partnerships (BCP), and the Organised Crime
Task Force (OCTF) have joined forces to
engage directly with the rural community to
raise awareness of criminal activity and to encourage
people to report suspicious activity.
Representatives from the partnerships will be
available to discuss concerns and provide crime
prevention guidance and details of crime prevention
initiatives being delivered in local communities.
And, back by popular demand will be the PSNI
liveried tractor, gator utility and quad.
Anthony Harbinson, Director of Safer Communities,
Department of Justice, said: “We strive to have a safer
community where everyone respects the law and each
other in both urban and rural environments. The
Balmoral Show brings together many of the people we
aim to support.
“We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate
how the department works in partnership with law
enforcement agencies and the private sector at a
local level to prevent and deter crime and help keep
communities safe.”
Detective Superintendent Bobby Singleton said:
“Organised crime can and does have a significant
impact on the rural community. We need the support
of the public and events like this give us a platform
to engage the public and ensure that individuals,
communities and business are equipped to protect
themselves against organised crime.”
Supt Brian Kee said: “Considered Northern Ireland’s
largest agricultural event, the Balmoral Show is
expected to attract thousands through the gates,
