The Arts
Persists
Children will use their creativity and imagination as
they manipulate and use containers.
Solves problems
As you use modeling, self-talk, and parallel talk,
children will begin to notice how others use materials
and solve problems and imitate those actions.
Writes to convey ideas and
information
Children will interact with text to write and dictate
their ideas about what they notice about containers,
how people use containers, and what containers hold.
Counts
As you model the actions, children will learn to count
objects as they fill containers and notice that big
containers hold more things than small containers.
Measures objects
Children will make simple comparisons as they sort
different types of containers.
Demonstrates knowledge of the
physical properties of objects
and materials
Children will explore the physical properties of
containers by noticing their size, color, and shape.
Explores the visual arts
Though two-year-old children are not yet ready to
create representational art, they will use marks and
scribbles to express what they notice about containers.
You can connect their marks with the words they say
about their art to see their creations through their eyes.
