Opulence and Fantasy: Couture Gowns and Jewelry
of Mindy Lam is the by-product of a pandemic
silver lining. At the beginning of 2020, Mindy’s
company was really rolling, with events and
trunk shows scheduled out for months. When
everything had to be canceled, Mindy panicked,
briefly, and then she dug deep and dusted off
that resilience that had allowed her to pivot so
successfully before. She changed her perspective
and spent a week meditating on the purpose of
the pandemic. Her ultimate dream was to have
her work in museums, not in the shop, but as
exhibited art. This was her time. In May 2021,
Mindy Lam will have two exhibitions on view in
two art museums. She is grateful.
Mindy’s dance with the Universe is far from
over. Her unique path crystallized her creative
expression, and inspired gratitude and clarity
that awoke a proactive philanthropic movement.
Through the Passion Forward Project, Mindy
supports the non-profit organizations that
supported her and countless others. She
tirelessly creates one-of-a-kind custom pieces for
events to raise awareness and funds.
Mindy Lam and the Universe are connected.
After just a few hours in her presence, I get it.
The magic is magnetic, and I am transformed.
There is an appreciable natural conflict in her
work; it is very romantic and reflective of delicate,
temporal beauty—but it’s strong, tough, and
enduring.
Just like Mindy.
