For years, they have worked selflessly to promote the
value of museums, artists, and the arts throughout the
United States, and particularly in the Commonwealth of
Virginia. Locally, they have served our organization in
various capacities for more than forty years, harkening
back to when we were first known as the Roanoke Fine
Arts Center and then the Art Museum of Western Virginia.
As the Taubman Museum of Art name clearly implies,
the family played an integral role in the vision and
realization of our stunning new landmark facility with its
striking architecture — which brings to mind a quote from
Romanian modernist sculptor Constantin Brâncuși who
said, “Architecture is inhabited sculpture.” Even with the
briefest of glances at the Taubman Museum’s stunning
exteriors and interiors, one might wonder if perhaps
the Taubmans were inspired by that exact quote as they
worked with the esteemed architect Randall Stout and
others to design our magnificent Museum.
To this day, Jenny and Nick’s support remains steadfast.
The entire Taubman family’s passion for the Taubman
Museum of Art and their dedication to improving access
to the arts for all citizens has been unwavering, as they
continue to focus their efforts on the Museum’s long-term
viability, sustainability, relevance, and community impact.
To this amazing family, our entire Museum team extends a
warm and heartfelt thank you.
