Digital transformation profoundly changes the way we
communicate – but it doesn’t make communications
any less critical to the human experience.
Better teamwork and better collaboration
are some of the key promises of digital
transformation. Communication is the
binding glue for getting all this to work in
everyday business life. Unlike today, where
we make conscious decisions to set a
conference call, call or message somebody,
future communication will be instinctive
and pervasive. It will be happening
constantly, on all channels, and all digital.
Digital transformation profoundly
changes the way we communicate – but
it doesn’t make communications any
less critical to the human experience.
So far, no study has found that personal
relationships have become any less human,
meaningful or productive now that digital
communications are all around us. On
the contrary, digitalisation enables more
people to communicate with each other.
Any obstacle preventing information
sharing and collaboration is considered a
productivity killer.
And productivity really counts, especially
among younger generations. A study
by Microsoft revealed that 95 percent
of Millennials believe that mastering
productivity is the key to happiness
compared to only 84 percent of the Baby
Boomer generation.
