Warminster focused on allowing you
to develop from being a child into an
adolescent, recognising individuality and
exposing you to many experiences and
opportunities along the way. As a fairly
rebellious, competitive and opinionated
child, the School taught me about
listening to the views of others, the
importance of team work and dealing
with the disappointment of not always
coming first. These are serious life lessons
which helped enormously
going on to the world of work.
With my parents constantly moving,
Warminster was my home for 5 years
and I wouldn’t change a bit of it. Life
is not always easy as a teenager but the
experiences and support I had made me
the man I am today. As someone
who knows a thing or two about
schools, I can say that Warminster
is different to most and offers a
first-class education.
Encouraged by our then Headmaster,
Mr Gerald Vinestock, I switched degree
courses at the last minute and opted
for law rather than medicine. Eleven years
ago I set up Crossland Employment
Solicitors and we are now recognised as
one of the leading employment law firms
in the UK. In a fast changing and
technological world where so much
pressure is placed on children from a
young age, it is wonderful to see a school
which has that pastoral view of growing
up and the foresight to realise that exam
results are only part of the journey.
Above all else the unique international
nature of Warminster allowed me to
not only appreciate the real meaning and
importance of a diverse workplace, but
critically, to enjoy the benefits it brings
to the classroom.
What is deeply reassuring is that the sense
of community, genuine friendliness and
consideration of every one of us that I
experienced while at the School, is still
very much apparent.
