The microcredential in Teacher Assistant Level II is designed for Teacher Assistants already at Level I. To
reach Level II a student must complete nine college credits. The three college courses will enable students to
demonstrate competency in writing, reading, understanding the principles of education, and basic knowledge
from an introductory psychology class.
Students who complete the Teacher Assistant Level II microcredential by earning nine college credits may later
enroll into one of Jefferson’s degree programs. Teacher Assistant Level II course requirements 昀椀t into JCC’s
Childhood Education program or Early Childhood with both transfer pathways for a teaching certi昀椀cate at a
four-year teacher preparation institution.
Courses Required to Earn This Microcredential
Principles of Education (EDU 210) – 3 credits
Research and Composition (ENG 101) – 3 credits
Introduction to Psychology (PSY 133) – 3 credits
Many classes are available online, however, depending on course schedules, some in-person elements may be required.
