This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail
or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certi昀椀cation Board’s PTCB exam. Course
content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple
environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and de昀椀ning
drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review
dosage calculations, drug classi昀椀cations, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. 昀氀ow rates, sterile compounding, dose
conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), dispensing of
prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
Certi昀椀cation Opportunities
This program meets the necessary requirements to take the Pharmacy Technician Certi昀椀ed Board (PTCB)
– Certi昀椀ed Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) exam and the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA)
Pharmacy Technician (PTAC) Exam.
Optional Volunteer Externship Opportunity
As part of this Pharmacy Technician program, you will be eligible to participate in an 80 hour clinical
externship.
MyCAA funding may apply for quali昀椀ed individuals. Note this scholarship will NOT pay for the textbooks.
Textbook expenses will be the 昀椀nancial responsibility of the student. For this course, textbook cost is $150.
(Traditional Army Tuition Assistance and GI Bill® funding does not apply).
Traditional college 昀椀nancial aid is not applicable for non-credit courses at this time.
