52024-2026 STRATEGYFundingObjectiveOverall ObjectiveCreate a sustainable funding model forthe DDAI.For the last 20 years DDAI has been able tofund its activities, support Ability Enterprises,Shopmobility and invest in specific projectswith a limited use of its reserves. In earlieryears, much of DDAI income emanated frominvestments and direct fundraising with thesignificance of parking permit income rising astime went on. DDAI has maintained generousreserves and these reserves have providedsecurity for the Association during the financialcrisis, which affected traditional forms offundraising income and increased the focus oncaution in relation to investment income andmore recently when the pandemic and inflationaffected parking permit income.Strategically the funding base of DDAI hasbecome very narrow and broader sourcesof finance are needed to spread the currentdependency. Ideally, activities should be ableto attract sufficient funding to be sustainableor almost sustainable in their own right. Thefinancial strength of the DDAI has been a criticalfactor in its ability to be an independent, honestbroker in its 50 plus history. Objective: Develop a sustainable, diverse, multiannual funding structure.Specific Actions:•Broaden funding sources for existingservices.•Develop a funding model for all newservices prior to implementation.•Explore opportunities to obtainGovernment and EU funding.Educating and training aretwo of the most importantaspects to benefit disabledpeople and to promoteindependent living especiallyfor people who live in ruralparts of Ireland who cannotaccess public transport.Quote from a Disabled DriversAssociation Member
