Stakeholders and
Communication
Overall Objective
Develop and enhance Communications to
ensure more frequent member engagement
to understand issues and deepen stakeholder
engagement to communicate these issues and
advocate for policy solutions.
2024-2026 STRATEGY
level of engagement can fluctuate with changes
of Government, changes of responsibility,
changes of personnel and fluctuations in the
topicality of particular issues. To obtain justice
for people with disabilities it is important that
these conduits for issues and ideas exist, at both
specific and a general level. Although there have
been notable achievements, this has not been a
dedicated role within DDAI and has thus lacked
some consistency and continuity.
Objective: Continue and enhance relationships
with legislators, civil servants and policy
agencies.
Legislators
A large element of the contribution DDAI makes
is through its representations to legislators,
Government and State agencies. DDAI has
contributed on issues around driving, driver
licencing, driving assessment, around the
Disabled Drivers’ and Disabled Passengers Tax
Relief Scheme, the Parking Permit Scheme,
around Tolls, Parking Enforcement and
Clamping. The association has had some impact
on the way these schemes are legislated and

Third Sector Organisations
Much of the success achieved in relation
to policy changes has been achieved by
co-operating and co-ordinating with other
organisations in the sector. DDAI has greater
possibility of success through deploying the
power of the wider sector to a consistent
voice on a given issue.
