Mustn’t be clumsy
Among other things, it was a must that
the design should consider the operational aspect without compromising on
the aesthetics, so that the trolly could 昀椀t
into the hotel’s exclusive environment and
function as a form of furniture at the same
time as the functionality was top notch.
“When someone like me has a lot of requirements for functionality, there is always a risk that the balance tips and the
expression become clumsy, and therefore it was important to emphasize that
it was not enough to think in terms of
transport from A to B. I agree that it is
dif昀椀cult to make such a trolly beautiful
straight away, and the challenge was to
昀椀nd out how it could be designed to 昀椀t
in”, says Hasse Fridh.
He has previously been involved in similar
projects and knows from experience that
it is alpha & omega of a good collaboration that the consultant listens and understands what is being said. And so did
Henrik Bodhi.
“We had a really good dialogue, and Henrik took my thoughts and ideas and went
home and drew, and then we talked again.
Both Henrik Bodhi and his colleague Ricky
Leth really rose to the challenge and were
also able to make me smarter. We adjusted
a little on the size along the way to achieve
the best possible 昀氀exibility, and we have
worked with the height, which ended up
being 1050 mm, which means that the
employees do not have to walk and bend
their backs, and the trollys are 昀椀tted with
ergonomic handles”, says Hasse.
Not a product but a solution
All the way from the 昀椀rst drawings to the
昀椀nished cart, as desired, the focus has
been on functionality as well as quality and aesthetics, and even though the
trolly can handle +200 kilos, they have
a light expression and blend in nicely,
whether they are rolling through the lob-
“I didn’t just buy a product.
I have bought a tailor-made
solution and I think it
works really well when you
consider that the trolly has to
be able to do everything, from
transporting beer and water
to cleaning up room service
and 昀椀tting into a conference
room or the restaurant”.
And speaking of conference rooms, four
trollys are supplied with sides, which allows the trollys to be turned around, so
that dirty plates and empty bottles that
must be cleared off, on an ongoing basis
in the restaurant, conference room and
lounge, so all is hidden from our guests.

by or a conference room. We selected the
black color version and it was a conscious
choice, because it is suitably muted and
blends in well with the rest of the interior, and if you place the trolly in a corner,
it does not create unnecessary attention.

“And another advantage of the sides is
that you can move around the house with
the trollys without guest are able to see
that we are driving around with rubbish”,
says Hasse Fridh, who describes the collaboration with Steelwood Concept as
fantastic.
The trolly 昀椀ts in nicely
“Henrik understood the task, and we got
a trolly made that 昀椀ts in beautifully”, says
Hasse, who makes no secret of the fact
that he is a determined gentleman, and
when you place an order of that magnitude that he has done, then demands
and expectations are high, and they have
been met in full - and the good cooperation continues.
Among other things, NH Collection Copenhagen has been supplied with custom-made room service trays, where size,
weight and aesthetics once again come
together as a higher unit, and the trays
are manufactured so that they 昀椀t into the
hotel’s kitchen trollys - where they can be
prepared in advance with napkins etc.
