Connected Staffordshire
Build, Link, Grow
Staffordshire is one of the most connected counties
in the United Kingdom, sitting at the heart of the
UK’s motorway network and West Coast Mainline.
Transport is a key enabler for business, moving both
people and goods. Greater effort is needed to remove
congestion from our local roads and town centres,
particularly the A50, A500 and Stafford Town Centre.
Public transport needs to be more accessible and
affordable if more of us are to travel to and from work
by bus and train.
We need to see Improved planning processes,
coupled with accessible procurement opportunities
for all, to support local investment in infrastructure and
commercial premises. A diverse range of commercial
premises will hold appeal to all sectors and size of
business.
Actions for us
•
To work with businesses and partners such
as Midlands Connect, local authorities and
Department for Transport, to promote and secure
much needed investment in the Fifty 500 scheme
(A50 A500) as well as the M6 Junction 15.

To secure support for the development of the
business case and campaign for opening of
a new station at Etruria Valley and other new
stations in Meir and Trentham, as well as the
opening of Leek – Stoke line.
•
To encourage and support the development
of more business incubation space and start
up support to retain skills and develop our next
generation of businesses.
•
To build upon our campaign work to challenge
the adverse impact on the business community
of measures to improve air quality, such as Clean
Air Zones, bus gate.
