Keeping animals in their homes
Bella the Survivor
Bella, a 14-year-old Chihuahua, had been brutally attacked by a much larger dog and her front, right leg was severely injured.
After taking Bella to a local veterinarian, her family was devastated to learn that to help their sweet senior, an emergency surgery would cost between $4,000-$6,000. It
was a cost they just couldn’t afford. After contacting the Russell H. Perry Pet Resource Center, our medical outreach team went to work to see how they could help Bella
stay with her family. Despite being short notice, a clinic in Leonard, Texas was able to take Bella in the next morning and perform the life-saving surgery and the Perry PRC
was able to assist with costs.
Although Bella’s leg ultimately had to be amputated, she is surrounded by love and care and is exactly where she needs to be to recover and live a happy life – with her family. Generous gifts
to the SPCA of Texas help make stories like Bella’s possible.
